Peninsular’s unique and improved
100 % air tight adjustable cushioning
system contains advanced engineering features
specifically not often found in conventional steel air
cylinders and frequently not found in other commercially
manufactured aluminum cylinders. Our
industry proven and tested cushioning system will usually
provide about four times the cylinder life as compared to a
cylinder that is not cushioned, in those applications
that contain stroke lengths in excess of three to four inches.
Heavier loads and long stroke destructive applications are
best suited for the use of our improved cushion system.
Because of our cushion system design and
other important internal engineering features, our cylinders
have significantly outlasted the competition in these
destructive type applications.
The Peninsular design completely
eliminates the springs and ball bearings usually associated
with conventional cylinder cushioning systems, thus,
reducing the spare parts required to support our line of air
cylinders. In addition, the same cushion seal is used at both
cylinder ends further reducing cylinder spare part
inventories.
Pneumatic cylinder adjustable cushions are internally designed
features, by each cylinder manufacturer, that prevent the
cylinder piston from slamming into the inside surface of the
end cap at the end of the extended and retracted cylinder
stroke. 100% air tight cushions significantly enhance the
cushioning system, and thereby increase the efficiency of the
cushion effectiveness. By reducing the force of the impact of
the piston slamming into the cylinder end cap (with 100% air
tight effectiveness) cylinder tie rod and piston rod failure
due to fatigue is all but eliminated. Our adjustable cushion
design also contains a captive cushion
adjustment screw, a safety feature that prevents injury
to anyone who may be loosening the cushion adjustment screw to
control the end-of- stroke travel speed of the piston rod. The
drawing below further illustrates how the Peninsular Model MH
and LM cushion system works as compared to conventional
cushion system designs.
Our
model MH and LM pneumatic cylinders contain spare parts that
are completely interchangeable from one cylinder model to the
other, thus further reducing cylinder spare part inventories
in those facilities which utilize both Peninsular aluminum and
steel air cylinders.
